Notice & predict
Same paper, new shape
Predict which equal-paper shape will arrive first.
Curiosity Bundle
Same paper. Same starting height. Does changing its shape change the fall?
Start with a prediction, compare repeated drops, then follow the idea of drag to a spacecraft landing on Mars. Both readings belong to the exploration.
Offer one puzzle. Keep the first explanation open.
Offer one puzzle. Leave room for a guess.
Hold two equal paper squares, one flat and one crumpled. Ask, "They started as the same paper. Which will reach the floor first?" Wait for a prediction before dropping them.
Show a spread-out coffee filter and a gently crumpled one. Ask, "Could changing only the shape change how it falls?"
Use two equal sheets of scrap paper. The test works indoors and needs no parachute or special filter.
Save the prediction before reading. A sketch is enough to begin.
Notice & predict
Predict which equal-paper shape will arrive first.
Follow the falling-paper clue into drag, then travel with the idea to a Mars landing.
Let the observation change the explanation. Record a missing or surprising result honestly.
Investigation
Compare flat and crumpled paper safely.
Revisit the investigation and both readings. Use the parent answers as conversation notes.
A light check
Explain drag with light prompts.
