Coordinating conjunctions are connecting words (remembered by the acronym FANBOYS: For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So) that link words, phrases, or equal independent clauses. When children learn it
Basic coordinating conjunctions (and, but, or, so) are introduced in 2nd grade and 3rd grade. Common Mistakes
