About Skip Counting
What this skill is
Skip counting involves counting forward by equal numerical intervals (2s, 5s, 10s, or 3s) rather than by ones, building pattern recognition and multiplication readiness.
When children learn it
Skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s is taught in 1st and 2nd grade, aligned to Common Core standard 2.NBT.A.2.
